N G Bailey's Patrick O'Leary has won top prize in the second UK-wide semi-final of the SkillPIPE competition to find the country's best pipefitter.
Patrick, who is studying at the N G Bailey Engineering Academy, competed in the second semi-final heat of the SkillPIPE competition at Burton and South Derbyshire College on 20 June.
Another N G Bailey apprentice, Brendan Rudge, won second place and in the first semi-final held recently at Gateshead College, N G Bailey apprentices secured first, second and third places.
The challenge is part of the nationwide Skill M&E competitions organised by SummitSkills, the sector skills council for building services engineering. The highest-scoring competitors from across the two UK heats will go on to compete in the UK-wide finals of SkillPIPE, which will take place at The Skills Show at the NEC, Birmingham, in November.
