New webinar explains air quality standards for food sector

Following a revision to the Global Standard for Food Safety earlier this year, Camfil and BRC Global Standards have launched an instructive webinar designed to give food and beverage manufacturers a deeper understanding of the new indoor air quality standards.

The BRC launched Issue 8 of its internationally recognised Global Standard for Food Safety at the start of 2019. The revised edition reflects the latest thinking in food safety, including expanded guidance on indoor air quality standards and filtration requirements.

Available for free and on-demand, the jointly issued webinar puts air quality standards for the food industry into context for those responsible for managing product safety and quality, giving a clear understanding of what is needed to maintain the highest possible standards of food safety and pass BRCGS audits.

Ross Dumigan, food and beverage segment manager for Camfil, says: “The BRC guidance document, Understanding Air Quality Requirements and Air Filter Specification in Food Production, provides a strong framework for managing air quality and filter requirements in food processing plants. This is the first time we have had this level of guidance on the subject and we wanted to assist maintenance teams as they navigate these new standards.

“Our webinar goes into further detail about ISO 16890 and EN 19798-3:2017, which set new standards for air filter testing and the performance of ventilation systems in food and beverage facilities. It gives practical advice that will ensure that food is free of contaminants and safe to consume, as well as providing a safe environment for staff and keeping energy and production costs down.”
