National Energy Foundation trustee receives OBE

John Doggart, a long-standing trustee of the National Energy Foundation, has been awarded an OBE in the Queen's New Year's Honours, for services to Sustainable Energy Technologies and Energy Efficiency.

Mr Doggart Eur Eng MA (Eng) MA (Arch) CEng MInstE FRSA is a trustee of the National Energy Foundation and chairman of the Sustainable Energy Agency, a charity which runs SuperHomes, a developing network of over 170 houses throughout the UK, all saving at least 60% of their carbon emissions. He is so passionate about the project that he has transformed his own home into a SuperHome and has achieved a 70% reduction in its carbon emissions.

He also developed WHISCERS, the award-winning, low-mess internal wall insulation system, which is now used across the UK and Europe. He is co-founder of the Existing Homes Alliance (EHA), chairs its Finance Working Group, and is an adviser to the Government's Green Deal initiative. In addition, Mr Doggart has recently established the Federation of Open Homes Networks (FOOHNs).

Chief executive of the National Energy Foundation, Dr Kerry Mashford, said: 'John is one of our longest-serving Trustees and has provided the National Energy Foundation with valuable support over its 25-year history. He thoroughly deserves this public honour in recognition of his work and we would like to add our thanks and congratulations.'
