MPs visit Ravenheat's Yorkshire HQ

Ravenheat's award-winning flue heat recovery system, Energycatcher, which can help to reduce home heating bills by up to 52%, got the thumbs up from two senior politicians last week when they visited the company's headquarters in West Yorkshire.

Shadow Energy Secretary, Caroline Flint, joined Shadow Chancellor, Ed Balls, at Ravenheat's offices, located in his constituency of Morley and Outwood on 6 December.

The MPs met with Louis Pickersgill, founder and managing director of the independent boiler manufacturer. In addition to seeing Energycatcher, they previewed Ravenheat's latest range of energy efficient gas boilers. After a tour of the laboratory viewing products in design construction and the distribution and warehouse facilities, the MPs joined a gas boiler training session for heating installers.

Ed Balls MP said: 'Faced with a real cost of living crisis, working families are on average £1,600 worse off than in 2010. Prices are set to rise faster than wages until 2015 and, faced with rising energy bills, we need to do more to support people trying to make ends meet over the winter months. I'm proud that here in my constituency, Ravenheat, a local Morley company, are doing their bit to support households who want to make their home heating system more efficient by upgrading their boiler and saving money on running costs.'

Caroline Flint said: 'Last week in his Autumn Statement we saw the Chancellor let the energy companies off scot-free. There was no announcement of reforms to the energy market and they have again ignored Labour's call for a price freeze to help customers. Energy efficiency is a really important way for people to reduce their energy bills and it's encouraging to see the work that firms like Ravenheat are doing to help make that happen.'

A small unit that simply integrates on the top of the boiler, Energycatcher uses latent heat that is normally lost from a condensing boiler to help heat the domestic hot water supply. It is recognised by the Energy Saving Trust as one of the simplest and most effective ways to further improve the efficiency of a domestic gas boiler.
