Minister responds to UK-GBC Green Deal letter

Following the publication of an open letter to the Government by the UK Green Building Council (UK-GBC) on behalf of the construction industry last week (27 June), Climate Minister Greg Barker has responded positively.
The UK-GBC's letter, which was co-signed by a cross section of chief executives from housing, energy, finance and construction companies, called for urgent action on the Green Deal.

Writing to UK-GBC chief executive Paul King, Greg Barker said he welcomed the views expressed in last week's letter, adding it was good to receive suggestions on long-term structural incentives and interest rates.

Mr Barker also acknowledged the call for cross-party consensus on the UK's retrofit challenge, saying the main parties will seek to work together on this issue where possible.
