M&S launches home energy services division

Marks & Spencer is launching a new Home Energy Services division offering UK householders energy efficient products.
M&S launches home energy services division
This week, M&S launches its Energy Home Insulation service which offers cavity wall and loft insulation at prices starting from £149 for wool insulation blankets fitted to a depth of 270mm. Later this year, the retail giant plans to broaden its home energy portfolio to offer customers home heating products including heat pumps and solar panel heating.

M&S is keen to provide an energy advice service, renewable energy installations and energy efficient heating solutions.

'We've launched a service that takes the hassle factor out of home insulation and applies M&S standards of quality, value and customer service. We will select the best installers, deliver the best lead times and customers will pay M&S, not the installer. It will also be a bespoke service and customers will deal with an M&S advisor that will manage the whole journey from enquiry through to installation', said Stephen Langford, head of M&S Energy.

M&S has linked up with the Cambourne-based company Enact Energy, which is providing the retailer with a team of advisors. These M&S advisors will act as the facilitator between the customer and the installer.

Customers can call 0800 0 106 106 to register interest and within seven working days their property is assessed for free. If a customer agrees to the work, an appointment is booked with an installer. M&S says the installation times vary, but generally are less than half-a-day and the cavity wall insulation is guaranteed for 25 years.

Carbon reductions for northern arena

Rinnai hot water systems are projected to produce ‘significant’ carbon reductions at a huge indoor arena in the North of England. The company has produced a designed system based on its R290 high-temperature heat pump. This arena regularly hosts large events such as concerts, conferences, theatre plays, exhibitions, live music and other conventions – so the site must have an energy efficient and carbon-reducing hot water system to achieve NetZero.
