LG launches new training academy

LG has announced the opening of its new training facility in Slough along with the launch of a range of new technical service, spares and support packages and a new product warranty extension.
Each training course, which is offered to installers free of charge, will cater for up to 20 delegates at a time and LG expects to see 350 trainees honing their skills there under the auspices of LG expert tutors every year.

The Academy will also play a major role in LG's Approved Installer Programme (AIP) which aims to put more qualified LG installers in the field who are qualified to commission Multi V systems. To earn the qualification installers will be required to attend the Academy for all three Multi V training courses: System design and specification; Installation and service; and Commissioning. They will subsequently need to commission two Multi V systems within a 12-month period with onsite support from LG. This support will be given free of charge.

Mark Richardson, technical manager air conditioning and energy solutions said: 'Once approved, they can commission LG Multi V products without site attendance from LG engineers, thereby saving the commissioning fee and gaining more control over their own projects.

'LG is so confident about the quality and reliability of its product and the skill of our contractors that we now offer a five-year warranty. The warranty does exactly what it says so long as the equipment is installed by and maintained by an approved installer who has attended the company's advanced technical training courses on Multi V. The contractor will also need to have in place a structured, planned preventative maintenance programme for the five-year period and at recommended intervals suggested by LG.'

For contractors the dedicated LG Technical Service department is now providing three levels of technical support to cover installations, commissioning, fault diagnosis and spare parts.

Level 1 offers telephone support for trouble-free technical/commissioning queries and spare parts ordering. This service covers single splits, multi splits and, advanced technical issues relating to VRF issues and control integration, as well as design specifications.

Level 2 gives installers the reassurance of LG engineers on site to offer technical assistance for fault diagnostics in a consultative capability.

Level 3 takes care of pre-commissioning and post-commissioning disciplines on site and these visits are free of charge, (commissioning can be done at an extra charge).
