The project entails project managing the installation and handover of Secure Meters’ Liberty Connect 100 pre-payment system on 386 affordable homes as part of the £120 million latest phase of the iconic landmark regeneration programme in Wandsworth.
Insite Energy was selected following a competitive pitch process by construction company Ardmore Group and is contracted to MEP contractor Kane Group. The development will benefit from Insite’s full-service project management approach ensuring a smooth transition from design to installation and mobilisation of the metering system, including handover to energy service company (ESCo) ENGIE, which will manage the billing and payment of the scheme. The installation will take place throughout 2021.
Insite Energy’s involvement will include supplying and commissioning the metering equipment, site set-up, technical support including GPRS surveys and wiring system design, and supporting the mobilisation of billing and payment services with tenant communication material.
“Having overseen the installation of heat network metering and billing schemes for over 200 buildings and 20,000 UK homes, we know there is much more to setting up a robust heat network than simply specifying, purchasing and installing meters and expecting everything to be in place for the tenant ‘live’ date. Insite’s full project management of the Battersea Power Station Phase 4A heat network meter installation will reduce risk and ease the burden on all parties involved, ensuring nothing falls between the cracks,” says Jason Weafer, business development manager at Insite Energy.

Designed by award-winning architects Patel Taylor, Phase 4a of the Battersea Power Station development will provide a new 17,000ft2 NHS medical centre and 12,000ft2 of flexible workspaces for local entrepreneurs, alongside the residential units. The scheme consists of seven blocks of up to 18 storeys in height, arranged around a garden square that sits at the heart of the site.
