HPA welcomes appointment of new Minister of State at BEIS

It has been announced that the RT Hon Nick Hurd MP has been replaced as Minister of State within the Department of Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy (BEIS) by the Rt Hon Claire Perry MP. Claire will report to the Rt Hon Greg Clarke MP who remains as Secretary of State.

Mike Nankivell, president of the Heat Pump Association (HPA), said: 'We welcome the continuity that Greg Clarke MP brings to the leadership of BEIS and also Claire Perry being appointed as Minister for BEIS as she is known to be a realistic supporter of cost effective carbon reduction. Our team looks forward to supporting her in this new role.”

The Minister of State at BEIS has prime responsibility for the government’s successful Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) scheme which promotes renewable heat technologies in Great Britain. The scheme is not linked to the failed RHI initiative in Northern Ireland.
