Heatrae Sadia achieves international energy standard

Heatrae Sadia has bolstered its commitment to energy efficiency and sustainability after achieving ISO 50001 standard for managing its energy use across its business operations and product portfolio.

Certified companies must create and maintain a management system that demonstrates that they can measure and monitor their energy consumption and use action plans to actively improve energy efficiency.

The framework of requirements includes setting targets and using data to better understand and make decisions about energy use, creating a continual culture of improvement. As part of the process, Heatrae Sadia has appointed an energy team, led by a dedicated manager, which is tasked with monitoring and driving improvement throughout every part of the business.

By securing the standard, Heatrae Sadia has moved a significant step closer to complying with the Energy Saving Opportunity Scheme (ESOS), which will be mandatory from 5 December 2015 and is a requirement of the EU Energy Efficiency Directive (2012).

Heatrae Sadia now holds four internationally recognised standards, having already achieved ISO9001 for quality management, ISO14001 for environmental impact, and OHSAS 18001 for Occupational Health & Safety.

Managing director Paul Rivett said: 'This is a great achievement for our business and our customers too. We are committed to designing and manufacturing products that are smarter and cleaner through the continuous development of our people, and processes to help our customers feel warmer.'
