Hamworthy Heating wins at Dorset Business Awards

JP Morgan sponsored the award and head judge, Caroline Donnell, of JP Morgan, said: “We were impressed by how Hamworthy Heating had taken a focused approach to respond to the needs of the community with extensive staff engagement. From initiatives such as ‘pond watch’, a weekly litter pick of the local nature reserve, to working with schools and young people, the company was able to demonstrate it had made a positive impact on the local community.”

Hamworthy Heating has won the award for Business Engagement with the Community at the annual Dorset Business Awards, which took place on 26 November and was sponsored by JP Morgan.

The award is in recognition of the company’s outstanding commitment to corporate social responsibility (CSR).

Managing director, Andy Moore, said: “I’m absolutely thrilled with our success at the Dorset Business Awards. It demonstrates our commitment to our local community, which goes above and beyond most corporate schemes.

“We give every employee the opportunity to volunteer during their normal working hours. As well as supporting Forest Holme Hospice as our charity of the year, we have worked with local colleges and schools, done numerous litter collections and much more.”

Picking up the award on the night were Janis Roe, sales support manager and Sam Boshier, senior marketing executive, both members of the company’s CSR team.

Hamworthy introduced their CSR programme in 2013 and since then the company has  donated more than 250 hours of staff time and raised over £12,000 (including a gift in kind) for Forest Holme Hospice.

The Dorset Business Awards have been running for 21 years and celebrate the best businesses in the area across eleven different award categories.
