Green Deal Home Improvement Fund now open

Today (9 June) the Government has launched its Green Deal Home Improvement Fund (GDHIF).

The new incentive scheme is open to all householders in England and Wales wishing to improve the energy efficiency of their homes. It allows householders to choose one or both of two core offers available and they may also be eligible to claim up to £7,600 as a bundled package.

Under the scheme measures can be installed by Green Deal authorised Installers and Providers registered with the GDHIF.

Simon Cross, commercial director at biomass distribution company IXUS Energy, said: “We welcome the Government’s announcement of further support for energy efficiency measures to help householders reduce their energy bills.

“Although it won’t directly assist customers with biomass boiler installations, the marketing campaign to publicise it will hopefully help to raise awareness of other government schemes designed to assist with carbon-reduction and cost savings for consumers – schemes like the domestic Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI).

“The domestic RHI is designed to repay the cost of installing a biomass boiler over seven years, and as such is the most generous scheme of its kind in the world yet we’ve seen little publicity to promote it since its arrival in April.”
