Flue liner firm seeks CHP partner

Flue Liner Solutions is looking for a manufacturer to partner with to support its venture into CHP (combined heat and power).

Mike Byrne, director at Flue Liner Solutions

The firm, which already has a growing list of blue-chip commercial customers in manufacturing, education and hospitality is responding to market demand by investing in the CHP sector.

Mike Byrne, director at Flue Liner Solutions commented: “With the continued growth of CHP within many commercial sectors it is an obvious next step for us. It expands our offer to customers we are already supporting. As the energy market continues to change CHP offers a more reliable and highly sustainable and efficient energy supply that allows the business to get on with what they do best.

“We’re looking for a new partner to support this new area of the business which will support our existing service to maximise the efficiency, safety and performance of flue systems.”

He added: “We currently work with many heritage buildings and CHP is not confined to contemporary properties or large manufacturing, it has also been successfully used in many period properties which will also benefit from a reduced carbon footprint and better value energy use.”

Flue Liner Solutions already provides comprehensive chimney lining and repair services to commercial customers across many sectors and is now recognising the potential to broaden its services.

The latest government statistics show that low fuel costs are contributing to the continued massive growth in the CHP sector.

CHP is an energy-efficient system that generates electricity from traditional fuels and captures the heat that is generated to be reused for space heating, domestic hot water, and industrial processes. It creates electricity and useful heat together in a single process, allowing organisations to reduce energy costs, while also supporting a more sustainable alternative to traditional boilers.

A high efficiency CHP unit can provides energy cost savings of up to 40 per cent compared to grid supplied power and heat from boilers and can provide a return on investment within two to three years.

By generating heat and power concurrently, a good CHP unit can reduce carbon emissions by up to 30 per cent compared to traditional methods.

Every organisation has different requirements, for those with a suitable site and set up CHP can provide the heat needed whilst lowering energy costs by combining both sources from one system.
