The latest government statistics show that low fuel costs are contributing to the continued massive growth in the CHP sector.
CHP is an energy-efficient system that generates electricity from traditional fuels and captures the heat that is generated to be reused for space heating, domestic hot water, and industrial processes. It creates electricity and useful heat together in a single process, allowing organisations to reduce energy costs, while also supporting a more sustainable alternative to traditional boilers.
A high efficiency CHP unit can provides energy cost savings of up to 40 per cent compared to grid supplied power and heat from boilers and can provide a return on investment within two to three years.
By generating heat and power concurrently, a good CHP unit can reduce carbon emissions by up to 30 per cent compared to traditional methods.
