FETA chairman celebrates another busy year

FETA held its annual lunch on Thursday 16 April at The Brewery in London.

Chairman Mike Lawrence said that it had been a busy year for the association, with the 30th anniversary celebrations held last July and attended by Home Secretary, Theresa May, along with friends from government and the press. In addition, Cedric Sloan has left the association after 18 years of dedicated service as director general. Mr Lawrence pointed out that during Mr Sloan’s tenure FETA has grown in size and influence.

The association is also saying goodbye to two other long serving members of staff: Rosie Pearce who is retiring after 22 years’ service and Terry Seward who has been at FETA for 14 years. Meanwhile, Russell Beattie has joined FETA as chief executive.

Speaking about recent legislation Mr Lawrence said that BRA has a Working Group, called PURR – Putting into Use Replacement Refrigerants. Commenting on the Ecodesign Directive he said that about nine product groups that affect FETA members are “entwined in this system”. The EU has recently announced that it is going to study the system with a view to revising it and FETA will be acting, with friends and the multinational groups of which it is a member to improve the basic methodology of the Directive.

Mr Lawrence then went on to discuss FETA’s individual organisations including HEVAC and the ADM Group and FMA, the HPA, BCIA, BRA, ADCAS and BFCMA, updating guests on their activities and progress.
