Ferroli restructures and boosts presence in HVAC market

Ferroli’s head office will, in due course, relocate to Villanova near Verona and this will be home to the production of new hot and cold domestic products, industrial appliances and the testing facility. The former Ferroli HQ in San Bonifacio will house the head office and production facility of Cola Stoves and Lamborghini burners and the Ferroli training centre.

For Ferroli, autumn 2016 will be a particularly significant year as the company enters a new era in its 61 year history.

Following its acquisition at the end of 2015 by Oxy Capital Italia and Attestor Capital, the Ferroli Group has begun the implementation of a restructuring of the business that will deliver high quality appliances, production processes and levels of customer service.

For Ferroli UK, based in Burton-upon-Trent in Staffordshire, this means not only the continued development of the popular Modena HE domestic boiler range but also the prospect of new products, including commercial and boilers, heat interface units and the further development of a range of pellet stoves produced by sister company Cola Stoves.

Flavio Buccianti, who has been Ferroli UK’s managing director since 2011, said: “After what has undeniably been a period of uncertainty for the company, we are now looking to the future with huge optimism and enthusiasm. What we’re doing now is building on what has been achieved over the lifetime of the company, but with a modernised business model that is robust enough to thrive in today’s economic climate and agile enough to respond to the changing demands of our customers.

“The primary focus for every area of the business and every member of the company is quality, whether it’s the design and build of a new product, the manufacturing and delivery process or the support service we provide to our customers,” said Mr Buccianti.

Ferroli UK’s head office and warehousing facility will remain at the same premises in Burton-upon-Trent, but there are many changes taking place that will underpin the company’s repositioning in the HVAC industry as a leading supplier.

The domestic boiler range has already seen a new addition this summer with the affordable i25 & i29 combi boiler and next year a range of HIUs (heat interface units) is due to be launched. On the commercial side, the highly efficient and robust New Condens FS 300/600 Series floor standing boiler was also launched earlier this year.

Andy Dimond, Ferroli’s commercial director, said: “To support the increased product range and deliver the level of service the company is committed to providing, the domestic sales force is being expanded and new engineers have been recruited in all areas of the UK. A new relationship with service partner Domestic & General has already been established ready to respond to customers’ needs and a new Ferroli.com website will be launched next year that will unite the company’s worldwide subsidiaries and reflect the true nature of Ferroli as a modern global brand.”

The Commercial & Industrial division, which has always been a significant force in Italy and several other European countries, will be expanding to bring many more innovative products to the UK market.

Mike Wagstaff, who joined Ferroli in May this year as national sales manager, commercial, said: “My aim is to establish Ferroli as the UK’s leading commercial and industrial heating appliance supplier.”

He added: “We have expanded our agency network and internal support team and are always looking for new agents, so welcome enquiries from professionals who have expertise in this field,” he added.

Boilers are not the only heating appliances that Ferroli supplies in the UK; last year the company introduced Cola Stoves to the UK market and now supplies a wide range of air & hydro pellet stoves and pellet boilers. Cola Stoves, which originated as a metalworking company for the construction of heating systems in 1963, was acquired by the Ferroli Group in 2006 and is now one of the leaders in the design and technology of pellet stoves.

Ferroli will still have a presence in San Bonifacio, near Verona in Italy, but the footprint of the operation will be strategically reduced to allow it to be more competitive and the manufacturing and production plants across Europe will be rationalised to become much more efficient and modern.
