Fernox invests to enhance laboratory services

Fernox has made a significant investment into its UK laboratories, increasing size and capacity, appointing new and dedicated staff members as well as installing £200,000 worth of state-of-the-art equipment. The Fernox System Health Check is a postal water sampling service, offering an accurate diagnosis of a central heating system’s condition along with treatment advice. The ISO 9001 accredited process is managed at the company’s laboratory. With increasing numbers of local authorities and housing associations calling for installers and maintenance teams to provide a laboratory validated water treatment regime for their domestic housing stock, Fernox has seen a 10% increase in demand for the service in 2013. Recognising and responding to market demands, Fernox has re-built and significantly refurbished its existing laboratory. The modern facility is double the size of its predecessor and now benefits from six team members dedicated to processing System Health Checks. Furthermore, new equipment specifically designed to undertake the required testing and measurements of the water samples has been installed. “Our laboratory currently handles 45,000 System Health Checks every year and that figure is growing,” explained Richard Wall, Technical and Product Director for Fernox. “In addition, we are very proud of the efficiency of the team who process System Health Checks in just 48 hours. Results are also available on- line through a dedicated website portal. Our recent investment ensures Fernox will be able to increase capacity and maintain service levels to meet growing demand.” A chemical water treatment regime, which has been laboratory validated is incredibly beneficial. It provides the assurance for installers that the work undertaken is the right course of action and for the end clients that the work has been carried out correctly, reinforcing the installer’s professional reputation. In addition to diagnostic and analysis water sample testing, Fernox customers can take advantage of the expertise offered by the company’s Technical Department. With a technical helpline facility taking approximately 15,000 calls every year – the team provides valuable guidance on a wide range of topics such as how to improve energy efficiency, best practice when it comes to powerflushing as well as the diagnostic services available.
