More than 40 jobs have been saved following the takeover of Benson Heating by heating and ventilating group AmbiRad and its md says more jobs will be created.
In July 2009, this website reported Benson Heating, the oil and gas-fired heater supplier, went into administration in May 2009 resulting in all 73 employees losing their jobs at the factory in Knighton, Powys. AmbiRad signed an agreement to buy Benson Heating at the end of June 2009.
Following improved trading conditions since its acquisition of Benson, AmbiRad has restored sales and production at the factory and more jobs will be created. The group is also investing in new plant workplace improvements, including office refurbishment and IT infrastructure investment.
AmbiRad's MD, Mike Brookes saidl: 'We're delighted to have restored jobs in Powys, helping support the local economy and community, where manufacturing employment opportunities are all too limited. Trading in the period since acquisition has exceeded expectations. With improving trading conditions forecast, together with ongoing support from the Welsh Assembly government, further job creation is expected as we improve and expand our product base.'
In addition to to the Powys site, AmbiRad has headquarters in Brierley Hill, West Midlands, its Nordair Niche brand has sites in Stockport in Cheshire and Braintree in Essex. Reznor is based in Folkstone, Kent.
