The European Partnership for Energy and the Environment (EPEE) and the European Heat Pump Association (EHPA) have agreed to establish a single, technologically-neutral energy label for heaters sold in the EU.
EPEE and EHPA say that a single energy label will 'provide transparency and... support consumers in choosing the most appropriate solution to heat their homes.'
The bodies also say that a labeling scheme will create an incentive mechanism for the uptake of the most energy efficient heating systems, including renewable energy technologies.
The proposal, agreed in September, is the first measure to complement the Energy Efficiency Directive (EED).The EPEE and EHPA believe that the combined regulations on ecodesign and energy labelling of heaters could add two percentage points in energy savings to the 17 per cent expected from the EED.
