Emcor has been granted a three-year extension of its facilities management contract. Under the new agreement, the firm's scope of work has grown to include grounds maintenance, management of a helpdesk facility, management of cleaning contracts and the provision of a computer aided design service.

The contract includes the main Waterhouse building in South Kensington, London as well as the new Darwin Centre, which opens to visitors this September. The Darwin Centre is the latest addition to the museum and will offer world-class storage facilities and laboratories to the world's leading scientists.

Robert Lamb, estates manager at the Natural History Museum said: 'We were thoroughly impressed with EMCOR's innovative proposals for the new contract and EMCOR's approach to service delivery has resulted in a more efficient, cost effective and flexible package.'

He added: 'In my experience, true partnering between service provider and client rarely happens, but EMCOR has certainly achieved this at the Natural History Museum. We work together as one team.'

Nick Morris, managing director, EMCOR Facilities Services, said: 'We are looking forward to continuing a long term relationship with the museum and enhancing its facilities management capabilities even further.'
