EIC secures Tesco maintenance contract

Building services specialist EIC has secured a maintenance contract with the UK’s number one supermarket, Tesco.
The Midlands-based contractor, which has regional offices across the UK, has won the competitive tender to provide electrical maintenance for Tesco stores in the north of England and Scotland.

Managed from EIC headquarters in Warwickshire, the work will be carried out by teams from EIC's northern and Scottish offices.

The contract will include reactive maintenance of all Tesco electrical systems for more than 500 stores, from Express to Extras, across the region.

EIC has enjoyed a long relationship with Tesco and already provides electrical and mechanical installation services for new and refurbished stores across the UK.

This latest agreement is the first facilities maintenance contract between EIC and the UK's biggest retailer and demonstrates the breadth of expertise offered by the firm.

Nigel LeMarechal, joint managing director of EIC, has worked with Tesco for more than 15 years and is delighted to see the relationship going from strength to strength.

'Tesco is one of the largest and most successful companies in the UK and has always been an important client for EIC,' he said.

'During the last year, EIC has increased the range of services it offers to clients, to include building and facilities maintenance.

'This is an evolution of the expert and highly-specialised m&e contracting capability on which the company was built. I am therefore delighted that one of our most valued customers has recognised the benefit of extending our remit and bringing us on board to manage their reactive electrical maintenance requirements.

'This contract proves EIC's credentials in the facilities management sector and demonstrates our ability to provide a through-the-line design, installation and maintenance service to our clients.'

Last year EIC completed work on the three-project contract for to provide the full electrical and mechanical design and fit out for the new concept Tesco Home Plus stores at Cribbs Causeway Retail Park in Bristol and New Craighall in Edinburgh and Bracknell in Berkshire.

And in December the firm completed a record seven day m&e installation on a temporary store in the flood-hit Cumbrian town of Workington, working round the clock to fit the five-week programme into one.
