EEF and ENER-G looking for Britain's greenest manufacturers

Manufacturers' organisation EEF and green energy firm ENER-G have joined forces to track down Britain's most efficient and sustainable manufacturers.
The EEF/ENER-G Environmental Efficiency award is part of the annual Future Manufacturing Awards and will be presented to the company that has done the most to improve its own environmental performance and improve its carbon footprint whilst improving operational efficiency. Manufacturers can enter the category if they have made changes to their operating procedures to benefit the environment.

The EEF/ENER-G Sustainable Manufacturing award is new to the Future Manufacturing Awards and recognises initiatives to improve sustainability. This could include introducing processes to reduce environmental impact and or delivery of a corporate social responsibility programme. Businesses should enter this category if they have made significant investment of resource and or time to seek a more sustainable future.

Now in their fifth year, the Future Manufacturing Awards offer manufacturers and apprentices nationwide the opportunity to showcase their achievements across seven different award categories; business growth, people and skills, innovation, export, health and safety, environment and education.

The EEF awards will be judged in five regions across the UK. Regional winners will be announced at celebration events in November. They will then compete for the national awards at a prestigious ceremony in London in January 2014. Both regional and national winners and runners-up gain high profile publicity for their business, as well as the accolade of winning a prestigious industry award.

The awards are free to enter and are open now to all UK manufacturers, with a closing date of 19 July 2013. For more information, visit http://www.eef.org.uk/awards
