DECC's Greg Barker visits Hoval's Lincoln factory

Gregory Barker, Minister of State for the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC), has visited Hoval's manufacturing facility in Lincoln following the launch of the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI).
Mr Barker saw the manufacture of Hoval STU wood pellet boilers and met apprentices and members of the workforce. He commented: 'Over 95 per cent of heat in the UK is currently produced by burning fossil fuel, producing around half of the UK's carbon emissions - more than from generating electricity.

'The Renewable Heat Incentive is the first of its kind in the world. It will help the UK shift away from fossil fuels, supporting jobs and growth in an important green industry of the future. Hoval is in a prime position to take advantage of this exciting new market in renewable heat.'

Adrian Walker managing director of Hoval, added: 'We have been designing and manufacturing boilers and associated equipment in the UK for over 120 years and intend to be doing so for many years to come. The RHI will provide an important boost to manufacturers of renewable heat technologies and will incentivise property owners to specify biomass boilers for both new build projects and replacement heating systems.'

(L-R): Karl McCartney (MP for Lincoln);
Adrian Walker, (Managing Director, Hoval);
Greg Barker (Secretary of State, DECC)
