Dalkia gels more with major manufacturer

Dalkia has extended its energy management contract with PB Gelatins for a further 10 years in a new £2.1 million contract.
Dalkia gels more with major manufacturer
Dalkia has operated the steam and energy management capabilities for PB Gelatins' Treforest site near Pontypridd since 1992. One of the largest global producers of gelatine, PB Gelatins' products are used in the food, pharmaceutical and photographic industries.
Reliable volumes of clean steam is a major requirement in the production of gelatin, which sees the raw material collagen hydrolised to extract the pure protein, gelatin. Dalkia's new service for PB Gelatins is based on an extended contract term of 10 years and will see Dalkia, installing a second economiser to raise the efficiency of the plant and lower gas consumption. Therefore under the contract Dalkia must meet specific key performance indicators in its supply of steam to the site.
In addition to supplying steam to the site, Dalkia also operates and maintains the steam raising plant and associated equipment. In the production of steam the water treatment and testing are also of prime importance, with safety and compliance the primary focus at all times. In doing so it is vital that Dalkia provides round the clock monitoring to the site, 24hours a day, seven days a week. Where work is required onsite Dalkia's mobile engineers also will provide a localised resource for swift response.
