Daikin to unveil major breakthrough in HVAC technology at ACR Show

Daikin UK will use the ACR Show 2014 as the launch pad for a major breakthrough in HVAC technology, which it says will have 'important implications for energy efficiency, running costs and occupant comfort'.

Details are still under wraps but it is also understood that the innovation will have a significant impact on design and installation time, as well as the long-term flexibility of buildings.

Daikin UK will unveil the development, and explain what it means for building specifiers, owners, installers and occupants, on its stand in Hall 9 at the NEC, from 11 to 13 February 2014.

Other important innovations set to make their debut at the show include Dynamic Noise Control (DNC), a system that automatically adjusts the sound output from a chiller so that it cannot exceed a pre-set limit.

The pioneering technology, developed jointly by Cool-Therm and Italian manufacturer Geoclima, enables chillers to meet the increasingly strict requirements of planners and end users, without significantly impacting cooling capacity or efficiency.

Show visitors will also be able to find out about a new type of ultra-efficient defrost system for refrigerators and freezers.

The innovative Flash Defrost system, developed by new company Frigesco, uses a phase-change material to harness energy produced by the condenser to defrost evaporators, saving around 27per cent in cold store and cabinet running costs.

Other innovations on display will include:

· The latest Low Global Warming Potential (GWP) refrigerants and drop-in blends

· A new range of high efficiency screw compressors from Bitzer

· New condensers from GEA Searle that operates with a smaller refrigerant charge and use less material

· New humidifier technology from Carel, the humiSonic, that is claimed to cut energy use by 90 per cent

· A completely redesigned range of Zanotto cold room coolers from AFR Refrigeration

· A Lokring jointing system for use with aluminium tube

· New heat exchange coils from Lordan, based on a patented Triple 7 pattern for improved performance

As well as being able to see the latest technology, visitors have free access to the industry's top experts, with 38 seminar sessions covering topical business and technical issues.

As the big supermarket chains continue their push for more sustainable stores, a key seminar entitled The greening of the supermarkets will update visitors on the latest developments in the rapidly evolving food retail sector.

As part of this, Bill Watson, head of refrigeration at The Co-op Group, will give an update on the company's plans to reduce energy use in stores and harness the latest environmentally responsible refrigerants.

Visitors can pre-register to attend the show via the show website, with free access to seminars on a first-come, first-served basis.
