Cool-Therm opens new Midlands office

Cool-Therm has opened a new Midlands office at the University of Wolverhampton Science Park.

Cool-Therm has opened a new Midlands office at the University of Wolverhampton Science Park.

Headed by Martin Sharman, it will provide a base for the continuing development of Cool-Therm’s activities in the Midlands and enable the company to expand and further improve its service to customers.

Following the recent revision of the F-Gas Regulation, Cool-Therm’s Midlands office has reported a surge in interest in natural and low GWP chillers, with Martin Sharman (pictured right with managing director Ken Strong) securing orders for new generation HFO-based chillers and hydrocarbon-based systems.

Cool-Therm is best known for its joint development of the award-winning Turbomiser, however the latest projects use reciprocating compressor technology, running on alternative refrigerants.

Ken Strong said: “The new Midlands location within the University Science Park puts us at the heart of technological development in the region. It is an excellent fit for our high-tech cooling systems, and gives the growing business in the region the scope for expansion it needs over the coming year and beyond.”

Emphasising the company’s high-tech credentials, the HFO-based chiller recently supplied was for a new chemistry research centre in Nottingham. The refrigerant HFO1234ze was chosen due to its very low global warming potential (around 5-6), which attracts additional BREEAM and LEED credits.
