Guest speaker at the event was Professor Isobel Pollock, chair of National Measurement Office (NMO) steering board.

The dinner was attended by prominent figures from organisations serving the plumbing and heating industry.

Immediate past president of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers Professor Pollock commended the CIPHE for its work promoting engineering education and its involvement with the World Plumbing Council. She reported on her leadership of the Engineering Council review of UK Spec 3rd edition 2014, with wide consultations across all Professional Engineering Institutions (PEI) and other bodies.

Steve Ingle reminisced about his involvement with the Institute, since he joined 46 years ago. He went on to talk about how the CIPHE is evolving: 'In the summer the members electronic network will be introduced, complete with e-learning capabilities. As far as my vision is concerned, I look forward to CIPHE members fulfilling their potential and career pathways through further education and the additional recognition gained through our Professional Engineering Institute status within the Engineering Council.'

On the topic of working with other organisations to help protect consumers, Mr Ingle said: 'During my year I have seen the CIPHE enhance its relationship with the water industry and trade associations through WaterSafe. Its launch last November, received immense publicity including coverage by 149 radio stations.

'Collaboration such as this is good for the industry and welcome news for consumers,' he added.
