CIBSE ASHRAE Group chairman steps down

Tim Dwyer has stepped down as chairman of the CIBSE ASHRAE Group after 22 years in the post.

Tim Dwyer has stepped down as chairman of the CIBSE ASHRAE Group after 22 years in the post.

Mr Dwyer, who is also technical editor of the CIBSE Journal, has played a pivotal role in the special relationship between the two professional bodies, which was marked by an event in London last year to celebrate 40 years of collaboration.

A Fellow of both ASHRAE and CIBSE, Mr Dwyer was a lecturer at London South Bank University for over 26 years and is currently visiting professor in building services systems at UCL Institute for Environmental Design and Engineering.

New chairman, Steve Gill, who is also president of the Institute of Refrigeration (IoR), paid tribute to his predecessor, who he described as a 'leading light of the building services industry.'

Mr Gill thanked Mr Dwyer for his 'selfless service to the members and supporters of the group', adding that he 'is an impossible act to follow, but thankfully, he has agreed to continue to support the group for a while longer.'

Mr Dwyer was also instrumental in the creation of the CIBSE ASHRAE Graduate of the Year Awards, which is now in its 22nd year, and he will continue to chair the judging panel at this year’s event on October 12.
