Christian Herten elected President of the Eurovent Association

On May 31, 2013 in Copenhagen, Christian Herten was elected President of Eurovent Association.
Christian Herten elected President of the Eurovent Association
Herten's election took place during the 56th Eurovent General Assembly hosted by the Danish professional association Dansk Ventilation. He holds the position as director for quality, health and safety, and environment management for GEA Refrigeration Technologies.
He succeeds Carlo Grossi (of DelClima, Italy), who had led the Eurovent Association from 2010. Since 2007 Herten, as Vice President on the Eurovent Board, had served the interests of the European heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration sector (HVAC-R) as delegate of VDMA (German engineering association). In addition to his profound experience in the associations of the HVAC-R sector, Herten can also call on his long years of commitment in the area of air treatment and refrigeration at GEA.

As Herten stated upon taking over presidency: 'Eurovent will continue its successful work as representative of the European HVAC-R industry and intends to further expand the services provided to our members.'
Eurovent Association is a European federation of national sector associations of the manufacturers of HVAC and refrigeration systems. Currently, Eurovent unites a total of 17 country associations, as well as affiliated member companies from countries without such sector associations. These companies in turn represent more than 1,000 industrial firms. The headquarters of the central Eurovent Association, founded in 1958, is located in Brussels. The association is recognized by the EU Commission as representative of the European HVAC-R industry and is also actively contributing to the ErP process of the EU that creates legislation for products involved with energy consumption.
In the Eurovent Product Groups, industrial members collaborate as representatives of their country organizations in work on standardization issues - and they prepare recommendations in cases in which standards do not yet exist.
The newest Product Group will especially concern the topic of heat recovery. Eurovent Association also takes part in Joint Industrial Expert Groups (JIEGs). These expert advisory groups, supported by industry, develop product-related minimum energy-efficiency specifications for the makers of HVAC-R equipment in Europe as part of the ErP process. Eurovent is also the owner of the Eurovent Certification Company, with headquarters in Paris.
