Ceilite Air Conditioning has been named Small Employer of the Year in the South East regional final of the National Training Awards and National Apprenticeship Awards 2012.
The finalists and winners were announced at an awards ceremony organised by the National Apprenticeship Service and held at Cineworld at The O2 on 20 September.
Based in Stansted, Essex, Ceilite designs, installs and maintains air conditioning and heat pumps. Its 28 staff work at construction sites throughout the UK and need to have access to the latest health and safety guidance to work knowledgeably and safely. To address this, Ceilite developed an innovative learning and development tool - Safety Card Training Talks. This has delivered impressive results for the company itself and the wider construction industry. Accidents at the firm have reduced by 50% and more than 250 employers have benefited as Ceilite has taken a proactive approach to sharing its good practice.
All the South East winners now go through to a final national judging stage and the national award winners will be revealed during the opening ceremony of WorldSkills UK - The Skills Show, at the NEC in Birmingham, on 14 November.
