Call for gas absorption heat pumps to be added to non-domestic RHI

The Industrial and Commercial Energy Association (ICOM) is joining the call for gas absorption heat pumps to be included in the non-domestic renewable heat incentive.
Gas Absorption Heat Pumps combine two established technologies, a high efficiency modern condensing gas boiler and an air source heat pump to provide an efficient low carbon way to utilise gas in buildings throughout the UK.

Ross Anderson, Director of ICOM said 'Many of our members manufacture gas absorption heat pumps; their size and functionality makes them ideal for industrial and commercial buildings and they are an excellent way of introducing renewable heat into the non-domestic sector.

The government's own Heat Strategy identifies gas absorption heat pumps as an important tool in helping to reduce carbon emissions. It is therefore critical that they are included in the non-domestic RHI when it is reviewed this year as the next opportunity for inclusion won't be until the 2017 review.'
