Research organisation BSRIA has published Pre-Commissioning Cleaning of Pipework Systems (
BG 29/2012) which, it says, will reflect new British and European standards and clarify certain points that have been raised over the last year.
The guide replaces BG 29/2011.
BSRIA said: 'BG 29/2012 provides the industry with the latest guidelines and good practice cleaning techniques for commercial hot and cold water services systems in buildings. In particular, it aims to clarify the roles and responsibilities of the parties, improve the exchange of information between them and provide consistency between service offerings of the pre-commission cleaning contractors.
'Thorough pre-commission cleaning of pipework systems continues to be important with the adoption of energy efficient controls strategies that may result in low flow rates, particularly in terminal units with very small orifices in control valves.'
Contents include:
* Design considerations
* Inspection and witnessing
* Installation considerations

The guide is now available to purchase at £60 to non-members or £30 to BSRIA members.
