BSRIA opens new test facility for solid fuel fired stoves

BSRIA has extended its laboratory and unveiled a new, purpose built facility for testing solid fuel fired stoves.
This provides UK and overseas manufacturers with a new option for reliable and fast product testing for CE approval from the accredited laboratory.

From 1 July 2013, the CE Marking of stoves and similar products will be a legal requirement in the UK. The BSRIA's new facility is fully equipped for thermal performance, safety and smoke emissions testing of multi fuel stoves for the full standard compliance, mandatory CE Marking and the relevant official product listing.

BSRIA applies established European methods and fully automated instrumentation, calibrated to UKAS standards, to ensure consistent and accurate test results giving manufacturers utmost confidence in their product performance.

Dr Arnold Teekaram, Head of Combustion at BSRIA Test, says: 'This new facility is an extension of BSRIA's 20-year experience and expertise in combustion product testing and research. For solid fuel stoves, we have set up a flexible test programme as part of our commitment to help manufacturers and importers gain full product compliance and meet the 1st July deadline for mandatory CE Marking in the UK.'

'There are various stages in the process of gaining compliance and CE Marking as well as particular requirements specific to the UK market that manufacturers and importers of stoves need to be aware of. Our expertise extends beyond testing to guiding manufacturers through every step of the process to ensure they get their products to market faster.'
