BSRIA has launched the Understanding Acoustic Performance Data Guide (BG 41/2012).
The new publication aims to explain what is being measured to obtain acoustic data and why the data is important and useful.
With more awareness of noise issues and many developments occurring in already built-up areas it is
essential to provide an accurate specification of the noise emitted by building services equipment, BSRIA says.
Heat pumps located in residential areas, kitchen extract systems, pumps in plant rooms are all areas where noise issues can occur. Products that generate intrusive levels of noise can cause noise nuisance complaints.
Acoustic testing is important to manufacturers as it enables them to provide valuable data about the noise emitted by their product. These noise measurements can then be used for product development and meeting the requirements of planning and accreditation schemes. Acoustic data is also useful for specifiers as it enables them to make an informed decision when selecting a product for installation.
The guide is priced at £30 full price or £15 to BSRIA members. Call 01344 465529 or visit
