Boiler-nappers' £67,000 heist brings police in hot pursuit

A gang of thieves who pinched 43 boilers and copper tubing worth around £67,000 from a Plumb Center, have left police appealing to the HVAC industry to help solve the case.
The boiler-nappers broke into the Wolseley-owned Plumb Center in Trafford Park, Manchester, sometime between 12.30am on Saturday, May 30 and 6.30am on Monday, June 1.

Forty Vaillant EcoTec boilers, worth approximately £48,190 were stolen. The thieves also nicked a Potterton Pro-max 28 boiler worth £7,186, a Potterton Promax 33 boiler worth £3,770, a Vaillant Aurostore cylinder costing £720 and copper piping worth £7,680.

But the thieves required more than light fingers to load the hefty boilers into one of the firm's Leyland DAF wagons and make their getaway.

Detective Constable Patrick Wood, from Trafford CID, said: 'Someone will now be trying to offload the boilers so I would urge anyone who is approached, especially those in the plumbing business, to be mindful of this crime and call police if you have any information or suspicions about who is responsible'.

Anyone with information is asked to call Trafford CID on 0161 856 8314, or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.

At the prices they have been putting into the market place lately, the robbers could have walked in off the street and obtained these boilers legitimately.

Carbon reductions for northern arena

Rinnai hot water systems are projected to produce ‘significant’ carbon reductions at a huge indoor arena in the North of England. The company has produced a designed system based on its R290 high-temperature heat pump. This arena regularly hosts large events such as concerts, conferences, theatre plays, exhibitions, live music and other conventions – so the site must have an energy efficient and carbon-reducing hot water system to achieve NetZero.
