BBES awarded Hertfordshire £14.3m BSF contracts
The contracts are both joint ventures based in Stevenage. The £8.7m Marriotts Lonsdale sample scheme is with Balfour Beatty Construction and the £5.6m Nobel sample scheme is with Mansell Construction.

Nobel involves the supply and installation of mechanical and electrical services for the remodeling and extension of the existing secondary school and includes the complete new building services installation. The project is aiming to achieve a BREEAM 'Very Good' rating. When construction is complete the four-storey school will educate 1,600 pupils. Construction has been programmed in seven phases to avoid interruption to the operational school as far as possible.

Marriotts Lonsdale comprises the supply and installation of mechanical and electrical services for a new co-located secondary school and all-age SEN school with overnight accommodation and will include a complete new building services installation. Marriotts School is a specialist sports and science facility serving 1,600 students with a large selection of community group stakeholders who will also benefit from these new facilities.

Lonsdale School is an all-age school for pupils with physical and neurological impairments (PNI), many of whom have additional sensory or medical needs. The two schools will benefit from sharing state-of-the art facilities and resources. This project is also aiming for the same 'Very Good' BREEAM rating and once complete should exceed current energy targets.

Work has already begun on both projects.
