B&ES North West celebrates its best young talent

This year’s North West Training Awards were presented during the annual ball organised by the North West Region of the Building & Engineering Services Association (B&ES) at the Imperial Hotel in Blackpool.

Presentations were made to 11 employees of eight companies including national contractor NG Bailey, which won the employer’s award for its commitment to training.

The other winners were:

Service and Maintenance Engineer of the Year (Level 2): Zak Stuttard of JLR Combustion Engineering, Darwen, Lancashire.

Service and Maintenance Engineer of the Year (Level 3): Jordan Denny of Carillion, Manchester (runner-up:  Liam Harrison of HFL Building Solutions, Denton, Manchester).

Installer of the Year: Ryan Galbraith of Laing O’Rourke Group Services, Manchester.

Plumber of the Year (Level 2): Michael Rice of Laing O’Rourke Group Services, Manchester.

Plumber of the Year (Level 3): Jonothan Bejsiuk of NG Bailey, Salford.

Engineering Technician of the Year: Chris Whittle of Charleson Building Services, Warrington, Lancashire (runner-up:  James Dunne of Hargreaves Ductwork, Bury, Lancashire.

Incorporated Engineer of the Year: Nick Boardman of End Systems, Leigh, Lancashire.

Electrician of the Year: Faye Pinder of NG Bailey, Salford.

Outstanding Achievement Award: Shane Trevitt of NG Bailey, Salford.

The North West Training Awards represent a joint initiative between B&ES and its training provider subsidiary Building Engineering Services Training (BEST).

Presenting the awards, B&ES immediate past president Bruce Bisset took the opportunity to remind his audience that the young people being honoured were key to the process of reform that would shape and transform the sector in the years ahead. He said: “On their shoulders will fall the front-line responsibility for ensuring, not only that the construction industry of the 21st century remains ‘fit for purpose’ and ’world-class’, but that the collective mind of the sector is ever open to new thinking, new ideas, new concepts and new, better ways of doing what it already does well.”
