Almost 90% of workers now signed up to BESNA

The latest update concerning the Building Engineering Services National Agreement (BESNA) is that 88 per cent of those workers who were asked to sign and return their contracts have done so.
Almost 90% of workers now signed up to BESNA
The Heating and Ventilating Contractors' Association (HVCA) said these employees had signed up 'despite Unite the Union's campaign of scare tactics and misinformation'.

The employees were given BESNA contracts by seven leading construction companies, who are introducing the new agreement with the HVCA.

Blane Judd, HVCA's chief executive, commented: 'The companies have always communicated the facts about BESNA to their employees and it's good to see that this information has been so well received.

'We hope that Unite will also now acknowledge the facts, cease making false claims about pay cuts and deskilling and stop threatening unjustified industrial action.'

BESNA is claimed to aim to benefit employers and employees in several ways, including:
- Pay parity across all trade disciplines resulting in increases for nearly a third of workers.
- Safeguarding of jobs.
- Broader training opportunities for apprentices.
- Upskilling opportunities for many employees.
- Increased on-site efficiency and business competitiveness.

The seven companies working with HVCA to introduce BESNA are Balfour Beatty Engineering Services, Crown House Technologies, Gratte Brothers, NG Bailey, Shepherd Engineering Services, SPIE Matthew Hall and T Clarke.

Workers who have still not signed and returned their contracts are being contacted by their employer to discuss any concerns that they may have.

The BESNA terms and conditions will come into effect during the last week in March and the first week of April 2012.

"The seven companies working with HVCA to introduce BESNA are Balfour Beatty Engineering Services, Crown House Technologies, Gratte Brothers, NG Bailey, Shepherd Engineering Services, SPIE Matthew Hall and T Clarke".

I think you'll find that it's six not seven companies left in the BES(NO). Balfour Beatty have seen sense and pulled out. And from what I hear six will soon be 0 in the next few days.

Looks like your BES(NO) Agreement is going up in smoke Mr Judd. How much money have you spent preparing this draconian Agreement?......oh dear me ha ha!!!!

I will second that the balfour beatty and hvac lies like out of 3000 employees only 295 voted for strike is bull they are juggling numbers and counting a lot more than the actual people having their jobs ruined by the actions of this moneygrabbing dictatorship, i know i work for BBES and they steamroller any policy they want through, regardless of how it affects their loyal employees, if this goes through it is a very sad day for skilled workers.

HVCA...........Stop trying to put it across as if employees have welcomed this new agreement, they haven't. You know and everybody else knows that the only reason we signed was because we faced the sack if we didn't. I work for NG Baileys and I can't wait for Unite the Union to ballot me along with my colleagues because I know the result will be in favour of strike action just like it is at the moment at Balfour Beatty.

Yes indeed I signed the BESNA contract too, only because if I didn't I was down the road! I voted for strike action at Balfour Beatty also.

The 90% who you claim have signed this Draconian agreement are the same employees who have voted AGAIN for strike action, because they don't want and never have wanted this agreement. The only reason they signed this contract was because if they didn't they would of been sacked!!!!
