The Association of Ductwork Contractors and Allied Services (ADCAS) is to join the National Specialist Contractors Council, giving the UK’s ductwork industry more powerful representation than ever before.
Announcing the move, a delighted ADCAS president Malcolm Moss stressed that the natural synergy between the two organisations would greatly benefit members.
'The current economic climate is very difficult and is set to become worse in the near future as government spending cuts kick in,' said Moss.
'By joining the NSCC we gain a powerful ally in the fight to defend our members' interests. ADCAS members will also be able to access a range of additional tangible benefits that we could not offer as a stand-alone Association.'
ADCAS will remain an active member of FETA.
NSCC brings together 32 trades within the construction industry. Beneath its umbrella is a whole spectrum of trade bodies, including ADCAS. It provides a collective voice for 7,000 specialist contractors across the full spectrum of building trades.
They make natural companions for Britain's multi-million pound ductwork industry.
The two organisations also take a similar pro-active line on key issues, as Moss explained.
'NSCC like ADCAS is a long term campaigner for fair payment conditions and the removal of retentions. NSCC has a place on the Construction Industry Advisory Committee and the Joint Contracts Tribunal.
'Training, with a particular emphasis on apprenticeships, is a priority. NSCC has three seats on the board of ConstructionSkills and is a co-owner of the Construction Skills Certification Scheme. It will provide powerful support for our own comprehensive training programme.
'NSCC's efforts to tackle waste and bureaucracy also mirror the ADCAS initiative on Information Overload, the wasteful practice of sending unsorted project data with invitations to tender.
'It's a natural partnership that will give ADCAS a more powerful voice within the construction industry and the additional strength to weather the stormy days ahead,' Moss insisted.
