WindowMaster service department extends agreements to third party systems

WindowMaster has extended its system maintenance services to include third party control systems as well as its own natural comfort and smoke ventilation solutions.
The service department runs a number of contracts across the UK and Ireland servicing window control and building management systems in a variety of facilities including theatres, sports stadia, university campuses and school buildings, offices, business centres and apartments.

Where WindowMaster has installed its own systems its service team provides a transitional path from installation contract to the building end user to avoid the 'finish and run' situation which can occur with construction projects. The service team also provides training for the end user facilities staff and building users to give them an insight into managing the internal building environment along with the ability to tune the system on a day-to-day basis.

This service has now been extended to include the maintenance of systems supplied by other manufacturers and installers to provide its customers with a one stop shop for natural ventilation, smoke ventilation and manual systems maintenance - all backed up by extensive technical resources.

Ian Symmonds, service manager for WindowMaster, said: 'Our experienced service team now provides solutions even where non-WindowMaster motors are controlled and routed via third party systems. WindowMaster engineers will service the primary control system and issue the user with the appropriate certification.'

For example, as part of Oxford University's Sustainable Buildings Policy the Estates Directorate services its natural ventilation systems in order to ensure that they function correctly as part of a planned maintenance programme. Planned maintenance is more cost effective for the university than installing a complete new system.

Ian Symmonds added: 'Our service agreements include a test of each system element, along with general maintenance of the mechanical elements and a telephone support line to assist the facilities team should a problem occur at other times.

'Our philosophy is customer service through education and support. We help our customers to get the best from their systems at every opportunity. Our support teams work together to ensure our customers have our full technical assistance, while our field service team provides the very best all round technical and maintenance service direct to the customers' premises.'

In addition to natural comfort solutions WindowMaster also provides and services smoke ventilation solutions.

'Many apartment blocks we service are in premium rent locations and it is surprising how little attention is sometimes paid to the smoke ventilation systems and their maintenance,' said Ian Symmonds.

'For example in one Manchester apartment block that was fitted with a WindowMaster system, fire service tests were carried out and WindowMaster was called in to check the functionality of the system. The break glass, alarms and smoke detectors were all checked and found to be working. The problem was found to be with the backup batteries which had not been replaced regularly.

'Currently, the inclusion of smoke detection systems in buildings is only advisory so they are therefore neglected. But as fire regulations increasingly require the inclusion of adequate smoke ventilation we are now seeing an increase in call outs to service third party smoke systems.'
