Trade cowboys will feel the heat warns OFTEC

The Oil Firing Technical Association, OFTEC, is warning all non-OFTEC registered businesses and technicians who illegally use the OFTEC logo that they will get their fingers burnt.
Trade cowboys will feel the heat warns OFTEC
The warning comes after a successful prosecution by Powys trading standards against David Mees trading as DEE Boiler Services and Oil Boiler Servicing UK.

Mees was found to be using the OFTEC logo on his website and paperwork, even though he was not OFTEC registered.

In court he pleaded guilty to four Trade Description act offences, and nine Health and Safety Executive offences. He was ordered to complete 280 hours of community service and costs of £6,750 were awarded.

Chief executive of OFTEC, Jeremy Hawksley, said 'We must protect the public from the cowboys and also protect the image of properly trained and OFTEC registered technicians.

'We work closely with trading standards in these cases to investigate any cases of non-registered firms using the OFTEC logo.'
