A series of Autumn Party Conference receptions was launched last week by The sustainability hub, with a debate in the House of Commons,
Delivering the green economy; is there a political will? with MPs Edward Davey, Luciana Berger and Peter Aldous.
Receptions in Glasgow, Brighton and Manchester are set to follow, with senior politicians including Fiona Hall, Caroline Flint and Greg Barker, who will be speaking alongside industry representatives and organisations promoting sustainable policy development.
The sustainability hub is partnered with the Green Liberal Democrats, SERA, the Conservative Environment Network and is sponsored by Mitsubishi Electric and supported by Tata Steel. It is a coalition of almost 30 organisations working to promote action on sustainable growth.
Mitsubishi Electric Living Systems' sustainable solutions manager, Martin Fahey, said: 'As a UK manufacturer, Mitsubishi Electric is aware of the key role it can play in developing innovative, low carbon products that can reduce energy consumption in the built environment. We are proud of our ability to develop energy saving solutions that help provide a comfortable internal environment, especially in regard to heating, where heat pumps can make an important contribution in reducing emissions levels and fuel bills, building by building.'
He continued: 'However, we realise that we cannot work in isolation, which is why we are delighted to be involved in the sustainability hub as we are only going to find holistic answers to the challenges facing the country through discussion and collaboration.
There is no one 'silver bullet' but through the leadership of the sustainability hub, I'm confident the construction industry can play its part in helping Government develop the policies that will lead and encourage efficiency across the board, so that the country can achieve the ambitious carbon reduction targets that have been set,' Mr Fahey added.
