'StreetwiseSubbie' sub-contractor support initiative launched

A new initiative designed for specialist sub-contractors working in the construction and engineering industries signed up its first businesses this week.
More than 70 delegates attended two seminars in Haydock and Nottingham where they learned how StreetwiseSubbie - a concept combining essential contractual and commercial support with sales and marketing initiatives - helps its members (or 'buddies') to better manage and grow their businesses.
Delegates from electrical contracting, structural steel, roofing, insulation, flooring and other sectors, received information and advice from Streetwise managing director, Barry Ashmore and advertising and marketing expert, Geoff Noake, designed to help them improve business relationships with clients and main contractors, eliminate contractual problems and generate more work.
Mr Ashmore said: 'Many sub-contractors fall into the same traps that unreasonable and unscrupulous main contractors set for them and are left carrying the can when it all goes wrong. With our help, they can now greatly improve their situation by generating more orders and making more money from the jobs they already have.'
