The contracts for Lovell, worth a total of £704,000, both involve the installation of heating and plumbing services at housing regeneration projects at Netherley and Kensington in Liverpool.
Both projects feature a range of energy saving solutions in a number of the properties as follows:
· The Alpha Solar Smart 90 System, which consists of a 90 litre cylinder and a solar collector drain back unit. The solar panel provides the hot water to the properties and the combination boiler only comes into operation if the hot water temperature from the solar panel and cylinder drops below 60 degrees, resulting in savings on gas usage
· Gas savers, which offer substantial savings on heating bills
· Rainwater harvesting systems, which enable the household to re-use grey water and save on water bills
· Whole house heat recovery systems, which recycle air around the household and redistribute it throughout, thereby reducing heat wastage and reducing energy bills
In St. Helens, a project for Bramall Construction, worth £315, 000, is for 38 new houses and 24 apartments and comprises the installation once again of a whole house heat recovery system.
Michael Draper, Shouksmiths' North West Division director, said: 'We are delighted to have secured these new contracts and now have a very busy schedule ahead. The projects we are doing for Lovell and Bramall are the first of this type of work in the North West, and mark our entry into a new sector in this region that offers great potential for the future.
'It is also encouraging to see the growth in demand for energy saving systems, such as the gas savers and solar systems, which can make a significant difference in reducing the running costs of properties. Shouksmiths' have extensive experience of installing these systems and we are well placed to advise clients on the best types of sustainable solutions for their individual projects.'
