Sixty-two year-old Robert Price was named as a member of the Order of the British Empire on the honours list published this week, for his decades of voluntary service to the plumbing and heating industry and the local community in Great Yarmouth.

As well as running Yarmouth Heating, a firm he founded in the early 1970s, Robert Price, better known as Bob, served as president of the Association of Plumbing and Heating Contractors (1999-2000) and his local branch of the National Association of Plumbing. During his voluntary career with APHC, Bob was also a Justice of the Peace and fundraiser supporting his community in Great Yarmouth.

Bob said: 'I'm thrilled and honoured to be awarded an MBE. This is fantastic recognition for the plumbing and heating industry but without the support of my colleagues at the APHC and various associations I work with, this would not have been possible'.

Price devoted more than 20 years to APHC. In that time he helped establish of the Plumbing Pensions scheme, plumbing training programmes, the association's Competent Persons Scheme and worked with City and Guilds to promote plumbing and heating in colleges.

Clive Dickin, chief executive of APHC, said:'Bob's commitment to APHC and the industry is unquestionable. He has always been driven to help make the industry a better place and has given up to 10 days a month for the past five years to APHC in the pursuit of that aim. This is a great honour for him - everyone at APHC is delighted.'
