Plumbing and Heating professionals and E.ON to help consumers save water and money

The Chartered Institute of Plumbing and Heating Engineering has joined forces with E.ON, one of the UK’s leading power and gas companies, to launch the Save Water Save Money campaign on September 1.
Plumbing and Heating professionals and E.ON to help consumers save water and money
The Save Water Save Money drive gives CIPHE registered plumbers and heating engineers the opportunity to protect the environment, save customers' money and have their annual membership of the CIPHE paid by E.ON!

At the heart of the campaign is a free E.ON ShowerSave device which can help customers save 10,000 litres of water a year and reduce household energy bills.

The state-of-the art flow regulating device reduces water wastage by creating a constant flow of 7.6 litres of water every minute, irrespective of changes in water pressure. It is easy to fit and carries a 15-year warranty.

Each E.ON ShowerSave device comes with a CIPHE information leaflet and a measuring bag to enable plumbing and heating professionals or the homeowner to test the current shower flow rate.

If after measuring the flow the water level is above the line on the measuring bag the customer would benefit from fitting an E.ON ShowerSave. It is important to note that the E.ON ShowerSave is not suitable for electric or multiple head showers.

From September 1, plumbers and heating engineers registered with CIPHE can order free E.ON ShowerSave devices simply by completing and returning an order form available online from the CIPHE website, in the CIPHE Journal (P&HE) or by telephoning the Institute on 01708 463110 during normal office hours.

During a visit to a customers premise to quote or carry out work they will then be able to offer the customer a free E.ON ShowerSave survey and fitting service.

This is a very quick installation for a professional but will show the customer that a Registered Professional offers a better quality of service than an amateur.

Registered professionals who fit 200 devices between now and the end of March 2011 will have their 2011 membership of the CIPHE paid for by E.ON.

Those who fit less than 200 will get a discount off their membership.

And those who fit more than 200 will get the year's membership paid as well as a discount on the following year.

'Plumbing and heating professionals should be the first point of call for customers looking to save the environment and save money,' said Blane Judd, chief executive of the Chartered Institute of Plumbing and Heating Engineering.

'We're excited about working with E.ON and delighted to launch this Save Water Save Money campaign which provides CIPHE registered professionals with the opportunity to engage with existing and potential customers through offering a value-added service.

'Not only will customers get a free E.ON ShowerSave device that will save them water and money but they will begin to understand that qualified plumbing and heating professionals provide a high quality service and have a bigger part to play in helping to make their homes more energy efficient by reviewing existing installations and advising on new technologies.

'We look forward to working with more organisations which, like us, are looking to help the consumer and the environment through the provision of quality products installed by professional people.'

Carbon reductions for northern arena

Rinnai hot water systems are projected to produce ‘significant’ carbon reductions at a huge indoor arena in the North of England. The company has produced a designed system based on its R290 high-temperature heat pump. This arena regularly hosts large events such as concerts, conferences, theatre plays, exhibitions, live music and other conventions – so the site must have an energy efficient and carbon-reducing hot water system to achieve NetZero.
