Double amputee motorbike racer Murray Hambro
Murray was introduced to the fund by Ian Dagley of Hoval, which has been Royal Warrant Holders for Boiler Makers and Engineers to Her Majesty the Queen since 1990.
Murray said: 'I am extremely pleased and honoured to be supported by the Royal Warrant Foundation. I am hoping for an exciting year of racing and looking forward to meeting some of the members throughout the season once the paddock opens up again after the pandemic.'
Murray Hambro is an original member of True Heroes Racing (also sponsored by Hoval), who has since moved on to begin a solo riding career.
Murray was serving with the 2nd Royal Tank regiment in Afghanistan when he unfortunately lost both legs below the knee in an explosion, which means he rides a motorcycle with the help of two artificial legs. Murray's motorcycle has also been adapted to replace all the usual foot controls with hand controls mounted onto the handlebars.
The Royal Warrant Holders Association Charity Fund was established in 1897 and provides monetary support to the charitable activities of Royal Warrant holders.
Nick Farrow of the Royal Warrant Holders Charity Fund was quoted as saying: 'In discussion with Ian Dagley at Hoval we decided to jointly support Murray Hambro, because of his bravery in the face of huge obstacles and the example he sets to others. I personally can’t wait to meet him and watch him race – good luck Murray.'
