Frank Elkins, the managing director of BSS Industrial and Gavin Slark the CEO of the BSS group cycled 180 miles from London to Paris, raising more than £17,000 for the Rainbow Trust children's charity.
A team of eight BSS workers got on their bikes from BSS Industrial's site in Chessington on September 3 and after numerous punctures, arrived in Paris three days later. Frank Elkins, said: 'Our team was made up of bike riders of all abilities so this challenge was by no means a walk in the park. It was tough to keep motivated and to get going each day but Rainbow Trust is such a worthy cause; we knew we had to make it to the finish line.'
The lows: Punctures and pain
Through hundreds of different activities, the pipeline and heating supplier has raised nearly £30,000 for the charity in 2009. The Rainbow Trust supports families who have a child with a life threatening or terminal illness.
BSS Industrial is one of three divisions of the BSS Group which operates through 400 trading branches and employs almost 5,000 people.
