Water and boiler manufacturer Lochinvar has helped a British sportsman achieve a world championship gold medal.
The company sponsored 51 year-old Paul Barnbrook, to attend the World Masters Powerlifting Championships in Palm Springs, California, where he came top in the individual deadlift.
The man from Stourbridge, West Midlands, lifted 290 kilos in his category for competitors weighing 100 kilos and aged 50-plus.
His win added to a gold for the same event in the European Championship.
Paul Barnbrook said: 'It was a fabulous trip and a fabulous experience. I'm grateful to Lochinvar for helping me make the most of this chance of a lifetime. To come back with a medal was a big bonus.'
Lochinvar's managing director David Pepper said: 'We supply equipment to a variety of sports related facilities. We believe in sponsorship and we like to back sports that do not enjoy a high profile. We're delighted by Paul's success.'
Paul's next challenge is the British Championships in April when he will look to qualify for the 2008 World Championships.
