The contract includes mechanical work involving a standalone complex, complete with plant room, providing heating, gas, and hot and cold water to the internal spine of the building, housing the changing rooms, physiotherapy room, reception and offices, and a 24-burner ambient radiant heating system with passive vent, providing timed temperature control to each of the six individual tennis courts.

The new facility will replace an existing building and the adjacent Priory Club House, which includes squash courts, gym and members' lounges will also have partial refurbishment.

An Information Technology and Communications (ITC) suite will also be incorporated into the new centre to enhance its TV broadcasting activities. Each year the facility hosts the top professional, female tennis players in the run up to Wimbledon who play at Edgbaston in televised matches, and year round, top house-hold names in tennis give interviews around big events in the tennis calendar.

Kershaw will be working in partnership with main contractor Morgan Sindall, and the project is due for completion ready for the start of the 2013 domestic tennis season.
