Kent takes stock of Lindab Safe self-sealing ductwork system
The way to the future is Safe! With sales of self-sealing Safe circular ductwork fittings rising fast Lindab Ventilation is increasing the number of branches stocking the product.

Sue Cuttbush, Manager of Lindab Northfleet, was joined by Iain Robertson Joint Managing Director Lindab Ventilion when the Kent branch recently took its first delivery of Safe.

Lindab is the UK's leading manufacturer of spiral ductwork and fittings. Safe and the recently introduced Safe Click version now account for over 35% of Lindab sales in this sector.

As result more and more branches in the company's 30-strong national distribution network will maintain stocks of Safe for immediate collection or delivery.

Twin demands
Hard facts lie behind this quiet revolution in Britain's ductwork industry which is facing up to twin demands for greater on site efficiency and systems with lower air leakage.

Lindab's Safe system comprises a complete range of pre-sealed components designed to create a circular ductwork system with minimum leakage in the shortest possible time. The unique double-lipped gasket ensures a perfectly sealed joint every time - without the need for any additional sealants. Lindab Safe fittings also feature rolled edges for greater dimensional accuracy and to make them more rigid and safer to handle and install.

Lindab Safe is much quicker to install than conventional taped and sealed system. A recent test programme conducted by BSRIA showed Safe cut assembly time in half and cost 20% less when compared to the traditional approach!

Crucial savings in air leakage were just as significant. At a static duct pressure of 500 Pa the air leakage rate from the Lindab Safe ductwork was 43.8% of that from the system constructed with traditional components. Independent tests carried out in Germany by TUV Rheinland have confirmed even better results for new Safe Click.

Brand new
Lindab Safe Click is a brand new system that reduces the need for special tools, screws or rivets. Pre-sealed Lindab Safe fittings are connected to the ducts by means of interlocking 'notches' created on site with the aid of a special Lindab Cutting bench. Duct and fittings simply slot together with a simple click - it's as easy as putting on a seat belt.

The new system ensures fewer holes from screws or rivets in the ductwork and thus less chance of air leakage. Ducts are also easier to clean and the risk of bacteria growth is reduced. No sealants are required, so on site safety is improved and clearing up after ductwork installation is completed takes far less time and labour.

Leading supplier
Lindab is the UK's leading supplier of flexible and spiral ductwork and components with state-of-the-art production facilities in both Britain and Sweden. In addition to its four major UK manufacturing plants the company produces spiral ductwork at no fewer than fifteen locations across the UK. Fans are also a major part of the portfolio - Lindab is one of the UK's leading fan distributors with a comprehensive range for all domestic, commercial and industrial applications.

To ensure same-day availability, Lindab carries comprehensive stock, including fans, throughout the country. Complete packages of equipment including ductwork, fans, flues, sealants, grilles, fire dampers etc can be assembled at the branch ready for delivery to site, or collection by the contractor's own vehicle.
